Overview

The Enterprise E-Commerce Playwright Automation project aims to build a scalable web UI automation framework for the LambdaTest E-Commerce Playground using Playwright and TypeScript. The framework follows the Page Object Model (POM), reusable components, and Playwright fixtures to automate customer journeys across authentication, product discovery, wishlist, product comparison, shopping cart, and checkout. It is planned to include positive, negative, and end-to-end scenarios, along with automated reporting, failure screenshots, execution traces, and cross-browser checks where supported. TestMu AI cloud execution and GitHub Actions CI/CD will extend the framework beyond local testing. The project will prioritize maintainability, test independence, reliable assertions, and repeatable execution while validating application behavior before automating each scenario.

Technologies

Features

  • -Page Object Model — Organize page interactions into reusable, maintainable classes.
  • -Reusable Components — Share common UI interactions across pages and test suites.
  • -Customer Journey Testing — Cover authentication, search, product details, wishlist, comparison, cart, and checkout where supported.
  • -Positive and Negative Scenarios — Validate successful workflows, invalid inputs, and application error states.
  • -Test Fixtures and Data Factories — Structure test setup and generate independent test data.
  • -Automated Reporting — Generate HTML and JSON reports with screenshots on failure and traces on retry.
  • -Cloud Execution and CI/CD — Plan TestMu AI browser execution and GitHub Actions integration.

Challenges

  • -Designing a maintainable framework with reusable page objects and components.
  • -Keeping tests independent when accounts, carts, and wishlist data are stateful.
  • -Creating reliable locators and assertions for dynamic e-commerce interfaces.
  • -Handling asynchronous UI updates without fixed waits.
  • -Managing test data and cleanup to support repeatable execution.
  • -Integrating cloud browser execution with meaningful session evidence.
  • -Balancing broad scenario coverage with stable, deterministic tests.

What I Learned

  • -Playwright test automation with TypeScript
  • -Page Object Model architecture
  • -Reusable components and fixtures
  • -Test-data management and isolation
  • -Positive, negative, and end-to-end testing
  • -Cross-browser testing strategies
  • -Automated reporting and failure diagnostics
  • -Cloud browser execution
  • -GitHub Actions CI/CD
  • -Reliable assertions and asynchronous UI handling

Future Improvements

  • -Complete manual reconnaissance and validate supported application workflows.
  • -Expand automation to at least 60 verified scenarios.
  • -Add stable Firefox and WebKit coverage where supported.
  • -Integrate TestMu AI cloud execution with build and session evidence.
  • -Implement GitHub Actions workflows for smoke and regression suites.
  • -Improve test-data cleanup and parallel execution reliability.
  • -Publish execution reports and architecture documentation for portfolio review.
